The GM’s Miscellany is a great collection of remarkable tables with tons of variety and interesting things. But these tomes are also tools that you can use to build aspects of people, places and things that can stand out in ways that will make your players remember the subtle detail of an elaborate door or magical fountain and so much more (There’s four books - Dungeon, Wilderness and two Urban volumes). These are very useful books with information for every GM. I bought the four PDFs with the hardcopies, and I am thoroughly pleased in the value of information and the quality of the products.

If you are reading this you are probably already considering purchasing this. If that is the case, just do it. I don't use this book constantly through my rpg playthroughs, but I do reference consistently and often enough that I have certainly received my money's worth. When I do use it, I am always happy I did. This book's strength is the ability to add great flavor to the moments of an adventure that would otherwise be bland and skippable. If you feel like you want your adventures and travels to be more interesting, this book is for you. If you want there to be more unqiue rp-able moments in the downtime of your adventure and travels, this book is for you.\ Like I said, if you are the type of person already considering this, then it is a good purchase. It's exactly what you think it is. And it does exactly what you are hoping it will.

After considering a number of books on world building I have recently purchased the following volumes from Raging Swan Press:

• Urban Dressing Vol I
• Urban Dressing Vol II
• Dungeon Dressing
• Wilderness Dressing
• The Thingonomicon

For each of the above I purchased both the PDF and the softcover versions. Quality and breadth of content is top notch. No excuses now not to provide more context in my fantasy world. Even just one or two dressing/events for every locale/NPC will dramatically increase players’ involvement and it will contribute to generating a more credible setting. I also find the content great to use as a starting point upon which you can develop more or less elaborate plots/hooks. PDFs are provided in two formats. One for normal visualisation on electronic devices, one optimised for print. They come with a handy and precise table of content. The printed volumes are solid and very high standard. Especially for the price. I have used many systems in the last 30 years. I now use official WOTC books for monsters, objects and rules, whereas Raging Swan products can cover every other aspect of the world building process. I will definitely keep an eye out for further books from this great publisher. Well done!

I've gotten this in a bundle with Urban Dressing 1 and 2 as well with Dungeon Dressing not expecting much to be honest, I wanted to create a solo Campaign for myself. My experience with the random tables so far, was somewhat random, and incosistent. Yet these are so organized and go a bit further than the others I did get. A good example from this book will be "Campsite minor events" and "Campsite features" which so easily can be made into plot hooks, or even just to add a little more scenery for me. Amazing trough and trough. If you are looking for random tables for locations and events, this is the book for you, I would even recommend getting the whole bundle. It is worth the price.

I initally purchased this book as a pdf to check it out before spending the money on the softcover. With the quality that Raging Swan Press is known for, I should have just bought them as the package. In any event, I own the pdf and softcover editions now and couldnt be happier with my purchases. I prefer a physical book to flip through, however if you like to use pdfs, you will be just as satisfied.

• Similar to their Dungeon Dressing suppliment, this book contains detailed descriptions of all types of events that can happen while your party is out in the wilderness. So instead of saying your party camps for the night, you can say "Your party camps for the night... During the night you see a single pair of large , unblinking eyes watching over the campsite from nearby... After a few minutes the creature departs." - (creepy, right ? and will keep the party on their toes and open their imaginations, get them worrying)

There are literally thousands of descriptions in this suppliment, with 100 descriptions per area type/event. So lets say your party is out in the forest and woodlands and you want to give your adventurers a little flavor.. You simply turn to "Forest and Woodlands: Dressing" there are 100 descriptions, so you can roll a percentage die, or randomly pick one you like. In this case I rolled a 33, so i read that description.. - "The gutted, rotten carcass of a deer lies in the undergrowth near the trail. The surrounding undergrowth is stained red with blood. A skilled hunter hs obviously efficiently butchered the carcass"

This simple description opens up a lot of feeling and choices.. Does the party need to worry about this hunter? Who is it? Is he a minon, collecting food for his master? Is he a simple ranger living off the land? .... Then the party can continue on their current quest or this could become the hook of a small or large side quest...

Much better than.. your party travels along the path through the woods to their destination.

This book is worth purchasing. There are well thought out and disparate descriptions for the given areas. Worth purchasing and worth using. Your players will thank you for it! :)
