Come for the genuinely unique takes on old standbys, stay because you got eaten by a dire pelican.

I don't want to sound overdramatic, but... this is literally the cutest thing I have ever owned. What a delightful and wholesome interlude from dungeon crawling. It completely avoids combat and the dreary, torch-counting edginess of your typical sword-and-sorcery campaign and replaces it with cheeriness, warmth, and a solid base upon which to build puzzles, mysteries, and social challenges.

If you've ever wanted a lighthearted 'Slice of Life' RPG with lightweight OSR styling, this is it. If you want the antics and silly misunderstandings of a hobbit-based sitcom where every problem is solved in 23 minutes with heartwarming moral at the end, this is it. Our first game basically turned into the Andy Griffith Show with the players finding amicable solutions to everyone's disputes; resolving everything with a bit of investigation and a smidge of cleverness. All in time for supper, of course.

But if you wanted a system that can also support the challenges of managing social circles, political intrigue, family drama, and strangers in a gossipy small town, then this is also it! It's meant to be light but you can pretty easily swing this thing into more drama than a decade's worth of Lifetime movies and Dynasty reruns if you wanted to. Our second game turned into drama over recapturing a loose cow that resulted in a land ownership dispute and all the kinds of horror stories you hear about HOAs and petty neighbor arguments. My players still talk about the drama and scandal of it all even though that was four or five game nights ago.

It's definitely different from your traditional tabletop game, but if it sounds even remotely interesting then I implore you to give it a shot. You'll quickly understand why Gandalf saw so much potential in those little Hobbits he adored.
