Play the soloquest. There's hours of entertainment and some very good rules familiarisation in it. My only criticism is that PDF is DESIGNED for hyperlinks. Linking the outcomes to their fragments would improve the experience. Mind you, the reader can do this. I have gone for the easier option of bookmarking each fragment.

An adventure in Glorantha's long tradition of moral grey areas. As other reviewers note it can slide in anywhere in Dragon Pass or Prax with a minimum of tweaking. The same is true of its timeframe, though prior to 1602 in Sartar or 1613 in Prax the detour will take a bit longer. While the adventure itself closes fairly quickly it has enormous plot-hook generating potential regardless of the ending achieved. It's a perfect vehicle for re-introducing characters "returning" to Sartar to the entanglements of clan and kin.

Do you want Le Mis in Glorantha? Rent or La Boheme? Or perhaps Sam Spade or Thraxas? If so this version of Glamor's less glamorous is for you. Enough advertising copy. The authors have very cleverly combined a multitude of "small lives" tropes into a single block of urban adventure hooks. They've created space to place most of our urban fairy tales into Glorantha. With very little work the insula could equally be placed in Nochet. The stories remain very much the same. Remarkably this is done with a great deal of empathy for what are sketches of sterotypes. This empathy for the characters makes you want to play in the rough side of Glamor. You will have to bring your own Benny Coffin.

I have just used Dolorous Edd. To quote my players: "Well that was surreal." An hour of very tense gameplay and hilarity for $2.06 AU. Definitely a bargain. The rumours and folklore (esp the one about him being a Broo) are a handy device for upping the tension, but just having a huge form parrallelling the party and briefly glimpsed through the mist had members dashing off in all directions.

BUY IT.

This book is far more than its scenarios. These are excellent, with plenty of player discretion influencing the inevitable story outcomes. That sounds oxymoronic but is actually epic, however you choose to use that word.

Additionally there are mechanics for both constructing and running heroquests AND fast NPCs. This includes a useful recap of The Hero's Journey.

Finally there is thinking. Thinking about Glorantha, naturally, but also thinking about how we think about this thing we do. What's more it's presented in a very accessible and often invisible way within and around the main text.

Even if you never play a game in Sartar, your players never hear the names of Ernalda and Orlanth, this book will improve your game. Buy it, loot it, use it.

I ran this for a diminished party of Rhino Riders. Four and a half hours of game play and many moments of terror for the players. Just as they thought they were safe, having beaten the boss fight, there was another horror to unleash. They fled. Most excellent.

For me the beauty lies in just how scalable this scenario has been made. It is usable as a mook bash or, as I did the other night, a serious threat to a near rune level party.

It is the ideal introduction to both the prevalence of magic in RQG and to the lethality of the system's combat combat. This makes it a great training one shot for those inducting players from other systems.

It has been written to slot easily into pretty much any setting where you can justify a narrow approach and some tunnels (I was using the Main Ruins in the Big Rubble). Even then the characters and justifications are strong enough to generate plot hooks if they survive; so valuable for an ongoing campaign.

Finally the minis. They're beautifully drawn and will see much re-use.
