A vivid, dark fantasy setting. Light rules that maintain some depth. A few notable typos, but nothing that obscures the rules.

While the setting is definitely not for everyone, it is thoughtfully realized across the first half of the book. Character creation is replete with options to create unique Chosen from every corner of the Wildlands and empowered by all manner of divinity.

A full array of secrets and rumors to flesh out the setting provided by the core rulebook. The context you and your group can give the Wildlands will really make the setting your own, even before your Chosen start wrecking the halls.

What do you get when you blend a Stargate, the Dutch East India Company, DOOM, a bushel of psychedelics? Stillfleet.

Mechanically, the Grit system is easy to digest and the pulpy enough to paint the walls. Plenty of modular powers to make your space weirdo stand out in a crowd of space weirdos. Plenty of setting information to portray everything from running a marshland caravan to plundering a spacehulk.

As a meaty replacement for Shadowrun, this neon corposcape is worth its weight in gold. The dice pool takes a little getting used to and the character sheet was a bit chaotic in our first setup, but the sky's the limit if you give the system a little time and see how it all hangs together. The logic is sound and the rules are easy enough to break down into their components if you want to homebrew some AAA cybersquid shenanigans (and who hasn't wanted that). Bonus points for the handy reference tables.

A great concept with a decent execution. My enjoyment was somewhat hampered by a number of typos and minor textual error throughout much of the book, but none of them muddy the rules.
