The author describes Temples and Towers as a "slim pamphlet" but this is just modesty - it's a genuinely valuable book that should be in anyone's Gloranthan library and is criminally good value for money.

It provides lots of detail, including excellent elevations and floorplans, for various temples (Ernalda, Seven Mothers, Hon-Eel) and towers (mostly Sartarite), but also a range of typical Lunar and Sartarite housing of various sizes and types. The detail is credible (in terms of real-world archaeology) but also very informative with regard to how Gloranthan people build, live, and worship. It isn't just of academic interest: it will add detail and colour to any Gloranthan game, and the information is directly useable in scenarios or campaigns.

There are also a few useful, if slightly random, additions: a "mysterious tumulus", the entrance to the Eirithan temple at the Paps, a Dara Happan gate. There's a very helpful chapter on construction / building in the Gloranthan Third Age, the author doing great research so that you don't have to.

I would love it if the author applied his usual meticulous expertise to an expanded edition one day, but for now I think this "slim pamphlet" is unmissable, and brilliant value.

As an archaeologist by trade, I'm definitely excited by the plans and sections in this resource. The archaeological influences are apparent and make it that much more fun for me. I love the breadth of this, though I'd have loved more temple varieties to be included. Definitely glad I picked this up though. I can see it coming in handy.
