Wolves of Steadwick (5e)

I've not run this adventure, but it seems quite difficult (there's a lot of puzzling required and the big bad is very powerful, with the various means of weakening him not easily discoverable by PCs). Nevertheless, it does a good job of doing horror in the 5e framework (including injury tables to allow for more horror-appropriate maiming instead of death) and offers a bunch of options for changing up the central story. There are also various sidequests that relate (or not) to the central mystery, and a number of really compelling NPCs. There's quite a lot of content, in other words, even if the connections aren't spelt out as clearly as they could be. The former does compensate for the latter, but there is room for improvement. At the sale price I got this at, 5 stars, but otherwise 4.

This is a very nice short encounter: it's a systemless one-shot designed for a modern cryptid-hunting game. The PCs might think they're on the trail of a werewolf, but are they? This really benefits from its local colour, being based in specifically American modern, if not urban, legend. It leaves the truth about the cryptid open, so there's some potential for moral dilemmas and tragedy here. For such a brief product, it does everything it should: hence the five stars.

ALIEN RPG Maps and Markers Pack

I am a big fan of FL's products, but this PDF is a disaster. It consists of the map of Hadley's Hope from the corebook, a map which is available free from the FL website (as it should be) and some tokens, which, as the discussion thread points out, can't even be used as VTT.

That's it. There's nothing else. Not the pregens from the corebook. In fact, there's nothing here that shouldn't be available as free downloads from FL directly. Other companies offer pregens, maps and handouts for their starter adventures, so why does FL charge, especially given the fact they do offer the main draw, the maps, for free elsewhere? I got this in the Xmas in July sale, and I'm still annoyed at having spent any money on it at all. Very poor form, FL. Very poor indeed.

The Concordance of Freedom [BUNDLE]

This is fantastic campaign, making full use of the ZH rules and the premises of the system: corruption, shades of grey, but also idealism and the achievement of small victories. The only blemish is that the bundle could come with player and GM primers to supply background on the factions, principalities and NPCs. Info is scattered about the various documents, but it takes a bit of work to piece it together: primers would go a good way to helping with that.

Still, highly recommended!
