Exactly the kind of excellent quality you should expect from a GURPS sourcebook. Whether you want to run a gritty 'beer and pretzels' style of spy game or a 'champagne and caviar' James Bond adventure this book has everything you need to get the job done. Includes spy job descriptions, gadgets, organizations, mission types, and historical anecdotes.

Exactly what i was hoping for. Great breakdown of any common OSR products, what they do well, how they differ, and also some creator interviews. Well worth the cost of admission for any OSR fan

I have regretted very few RPG purchases over my gaming career, but this is one of them. Fans of Starfinder, or Masters of the Universe might like it. But it runs solely on 'rule of cool' with no logic or internal consistency to be had anywhere.

D6 does the basics admirably. It starts to fall down when you need 'extras' though. Powers (Magical or Psionic), Vehicles, and Giant Monsters are not the systems forte.
The other major flaw is the attributes are not very intuitive. 6 Attributes each with skills attached, but which skills are tied to which attribute often eems arbitrary. Once it's memorized it won't be a big issue, but it's a minor hurdle in learning the system.
That being said; D6 is solid. It lets you make a wide range of characters, and conduct basic scenes admirably. It's a very difficult system to 'break' or 'powergame'. Simple and to-the-point for the most part.

Just a tad bit too cluinky for my liking. But still a solid ruleset. It'll just require some system mastery to really make excellent use of it.

A few really interesting new takes on old school classic monsters here. And also a few monsters not often seen in a Bestiary. well worth an addition to any collection.

Just a bit too 'bare bones' for my liking. Only 3 classes and 2 of them are spellcasters. I wish there were a skill-based class such as a thief, spy, or ninja.
Other than that oversight a well executed OSR product with a very strong bestiary.

An amazing achievement. Continents worth of cultures and history to explore and adventure within. The rules are simple and bare-bones, but clearly not the star of the show. Almost any type of fantasy story can be run here, almost any culture based (even loosly) on real world cultures exists somehwere within the Second Age. A must have for those interested in worldbuilding and exploring.

A fantasy world based on the dreamy fairytales of Lord Dunsany. Not your tyical hack n slash. A must have for those interested in new and unique fantasy lenses.

Barbarians of Lemuria goes modern.
The main differences from core BOL are simply to add modern backgrounds (rather than races/ cultures of medieval fantasy) and specializations (rather than the classes and careers of the ancient world) as well as updating the weapons tables to include all manner of modern goodies
There is a bit of GMing advice here too. counter-terrorism units, mercenaries, super spies, gangsters, or even soliders in a larger war are all possible.
More than any other ruleset BOL (and by extension Dogs of WAR) is elegant and easy to use. The mechanics get out of your way so you can get down to the business of exploring your characters and their story
Excellent art throughtout. An introductory adventure is included with pregens

A fairly generic Tolkienesque setting with elves, dwarfs, goblins, and a few varieties of humans. The best thing is the large dash of the cthulhu mythos. Most of the monsters are strange eldritch horrors which adds a definite feeling of horror and mystery to the setting. Well executed throughout, not quite revolutionary but a good blending of two fantasy staples.
The bestiary makes this product worth a purchase alone. One of the best, and most original collections ofm onsters you're likely to find.
Uses the D6 system and provides good depth for martial, social, stealth, and especially magic-based characters

Contains the complete BOL core rules, a custom setting, an expanded bestiary, 2 introductory adventures and a selection of pregens.
The rules are simple, elegant and beautiful. 5/5 for the rules.
The setting 'Erisia' is more detailed than the 'Lemuria' of the core BOL rulebook, but still lacking in details for actual play. It's a broad sketch rather than a complete picture. This leaves GMs freedom to make the setting their own however. 3/5 for the setting
If you already have the BOL ruleset I, personally don't think the setting is strong enough to warrant a purchase, but I have no regrets from my purchase either. It's certainly not 'Bad' it just could be better.
Interior art is black and white and of average quality.

If the original 'White Star' is a tribute to Star Wars, this is a tribute to Star Trek executed with the same love of the source material and dedication to making the material playable and approachable.
9 new classes, rules for space exploration and military ranks, as well as a sizeable bestiary.
The new setting included offers two 'Eras' of play. A 'Golden Age' of peace when the Federation is at it's height and a 'Dark Age' after it's fallen with our heroes struggling to restore it's light to the galay.
Besides Star Trek this product is heavily influenced by Andromeda and FarScape. the blending of ideas and themes makes it a setting both familiar and new at the same time.
If you like White Star I'd highly recommend this add-on
