Every single book this author does is an excellent value, with top-notch production value and and lot of creative tables to help a referee improv/create wildly fun situations for their players. This book is spectacular and an excellent continuation of my love affair with Kevin Crawford's game design.

One thing that is constant is the quality of material from Kevin Crawford. The best part of this system is the books are tools and not "cannon that must be followed". I have everything for Stars without Number it is my favorite Sci-Fi rpg. Now the good things about Engines of Babylon: You can build about anything from a small motorcycle to slower than light space craft. More Maltech, I love using this to confuse and tempt players. The sample Vehicles are well thought out and really cool. Like everything else Kevin has produced it is well worth the money. I have paid more for stuff I have liked less, sometimes a lot less. I can find no bad thgings about this product.

As always when I read Kevin Crawford's stuff, firstly it just makes me want to game, then fervently wish he would someday write a novel set in his Stars Without Numbers/Other Dust universe. This isn't your standard tech manual, some of the devices presented herein are pretty esoteric, science sufficiently advanced resembling magic and so on, but the signature of his products are the well organised generation tables to enable time-poor GM's to quickly generate material for their home campaigns. SWN has broad setting outlines set upon a simple ('basic system' or Labyrinth Lord) rules, the rest is an endless sandbox- this supplement focusing on locales and devices of 'lost' civilizations. Another triumph for Sine Nomine!
