Trinity Continuum: Polyphemus
by Matthew R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/06/2022 18:55:59

Great new Allegiance for the Trinity Core setting! It slots into the weird reality element of the core that kind of lurk in the margins of the implicit setting (the Flux aspect that features trans-dimensional energies and invaders from parallel realities, basically). Enthusiastically embraces its genre inspirational sources, such as Fringe, Men in Black, and most especially the retro-aesthetic of the Time Variance Authority from the Loki series. Polyphemus itself is an organization spun-out from the Aeon Society, with roots in projects aligned with the Babel Dossier (as well as ties to the Shadow World of the TC: Assassins supplement). As a setting addition, it provides a player Allegiance for storylines which blend investigation into supernatural mysteries with the strange reality of the Trinity Continuum (with a sardonic bit of Office Humor thrown in). I’d say it pairs very well with several of the adventures from the In Media Res supplement, most especially Artefacts, Etc and Caper, Incorporated. Definitely recommended.

Trinity Continuum: Polyphemus
by Michael A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/26/2022 11:37:28

A great addition to the growing Trinity Continuum setting, this PDF provides a new faction spun off of the Aeon Society called Polyphemus. Dedicated to tracking, acquiring, and studying Flux artifacts, its equal parts Warehouse 13, Men in Black, and (the Bureau of) Control. There's a cool secret base with a '60s aesthetic, rules for utilizing Flux-based weapons and equipment, and a new Path for members of the Allegiance. Lots of fun bits that can be used in part or together for your Continuum games!

Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition
by Ricardo A. M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/22/2022 13:50:07

It finally arrived and guess what? It's not even about Werewolf The Apocalypse. The cover is fine, but upon opening the book turns out I instead received The Original and True Rheims New Testament of Anno Domini 1582. What is going on here? Is this an out of season April Fools joke? Because this isn't funny, this isn't what I asked for.

Absolutely disgusting.

[EDIT] Sent a ticket, they'll be delivering a replacement. Won't change the rating until it has arrived.

Thank you to the support team.

[EDIT2] The proper book finally arrived, thank you so much!

Therianthropes
by A customer [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/22/2022 06:02:51

I'll be honest, I feel that the option to play as Denizens in the World could be expanded in official material so projects like this one are a delight. With a succint overview of therianthropes and their place in the World as player character options, two Heroic Knacks, a single Immortal Knack and two Relics, as well as four pre-generated characters from a variety of pantheons, Zachery has provided ways of playing therianthropic characters that allows them to fit into a group of Scions better than the default rules provide. Whether by using magic to obscure their transformation in the mind of nearby onlookers, or by granting a measure of control over your therianthropes ability to shapeshift between their human and animal forms, this supplement offers your character more options to blend in amongst humanity and the other people of the World. That alone makes this product worth the asking price, the four pre-gens are just icing on top.

The Longest Night (A Jumpstart for World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters)
by Björn L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/21/2022 13:26:01

Surviving the night in a haunted house - a Mephisto review

The Longest Night

An old house connected by sinister stories, a group of amateur ghost hunters who want to explore this place at night, and some dangerous hauntings that oppose them – these are the ingredients for The Longest Night.

Complementing the World of Darkness sourcebook and setting Ghost Hunters, The Longest Night is a fitting quick-start. The book assumes that players have no previous experience with the World of Darkness, and just three pages cover the necessary rules and some basics about wraiths. Further game mechanisms are explained in the appropriate scenes of the adventure. However, the central part of the book is the adventure itself, which should take one or two evenings to play through its three acts. The pre-generated characters are confronted with a haunted house, which provides the dangerous background for some complications when the players have to choose different sides and approaches in the final scenes. Along with the six ready-to-play characters, there are a few additional rules explanations for the specifics of the characters regarding merits and flaws as well as necromancy and other special abilities.

The Longest Night does an excellent job mixing the necessary rules' summary with a challenging setting, thus whetting the appetite for more. New players will have an easy introduction to the setting. Those already planning a Ghost Hunter chronicle can use the adventure as an intro. Thus, the quick-start provides an ideal starting point into the world of the ghost hunters of the World of Darkness.

Of Predators and Prey: The Hunters Hunted II Anthology
by Robert T. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/19/2022 15:58:22

This was a short little anthology about the unsung heroes of the WOD- the hunter. My favorite being "HOA/DOA", about a homeowner's association member who stumbles across a kindred and ghoul couple who just are not following the rules. Told in a journal/diary format, puts a twist on the nosy neighbor. The first story, "Safe House" is a sequel to the framing story from the original Hunters Hunted sourcebook of the early 1990's.
There is a market for these type of anthologies, like the old ones White Wolf put out in the 90s with stories by James Moore and others. Maybe a tale could be written about the cover, about a former Starfleet "number one" turned priest/vampire hunter...

They Came From Camp Murder Lake!
by Preston B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/16/2022 19:00:06

Can I gush for a second?

Thank you for the indulgence.

First off, as a child of the '80s (Technically '70s, but really the '80s), this is my style of horror movie. The camp the murder the lake, etc. All of it is fantastic, this book absolutely drips with tone. It isn't fair how talented Matthew Dawkins is. While it is true that this book does require, They Came From Beyond the Grave! (And, OP, a bundle would help this issue, because I am NOT sure that this book, by itself is worth $39.98 #LoveYa) that is likely the ONLY downside I can think of when I consider this book.

So, with the bad out of the way, let's get to the good.

This book is beefy at 118 pages of content (that includes an adventure) It also packs in 40 pages of resources to print and have for the game. These are quips and twists, and the are just as amazing as we have come to expect from Onyx Path.

The art is magnificent. The family on page 8 is amazing by itself (and likely my favorite in the book) but page 14 is so, simply disturbing, and the little girl on 70 belongs in a museum.

The Archetypes are perfect for the genre and evoke exactly the right mood for this style of game. Without giving away too much, the Wild Child just bleeds Return of the Living Dead graveyard.

Honestly, if you are at all interested in this genre, buy this book. If you THINK you might be, but don't own They Came From Beyond the Grave! you MIGHT wait for the inevitable sale because, I wonder how much value a group will get from the two books.

For me, I bought this book day 1. It was a no brainer. Dixie, Klara, Eddy, and, Matthew are some of my favorite authors in the TTRPG business at the moment, and having them come together (with some other fantastic authors at the same time.) for this package was simply sublime.

Demon: Interface
by Björn L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/15/2022 13:01:30

Fighting the God-machine - a Mephisto review

Demon: Interface

The setting of Demon: The Descent plays a unique role in the 2nd edition of the Chronicles of Darkness, focusing on demons and the mysterious God-Machine. Interface offers an introduction to this game world through eight short stories that present the strange world of demons. The title of the system, Demons, probably conjures up a wrong image, as the setting is characterized less by religious mysticism than by a high-tech agent setting. The fallen angels of the God-Machine are futuristic robotic creatures waging a secret battle against the hidden powers controling the world in the background.

Even though this secret struggle characterizes the stories, they cover different facets. In one story, it's a matter of a demon continuing to protect a person who should have died according to the God-Machine's will. Another story revolves around camouflaging the identity of a demon. The central theme, however, is always how the demons interact with humans.

The special feature of this anthology volume, in contrast to the other game world anthologies, is that in addition to the stories themselves, each one is followed by a short chapter describing characters, phenomena, and the like from the game's point of view, so that elements from the stories are actually described in game terms and mechanics.

Interface provides intriguing insights into the unusual world of darkness inhabited by demons. The interpretation of demons as technical servant beings of the so-called God-Machine is a unique approach. This anthology offers a suitable introduction to get the first glimpse into this unusual game world, its genre and its atmosphere - even if, of course, these short stories do not explain the secrets surrounding the God-Machine.

They Came From Camp Murder Lake!
by Matthew O. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/13/2022 23:42:02

This is a heafty addition to the They Came From Beyond the Grave. Basically taking the horror movie genre into the more specific genre of the '80s slasher movies. Very detailed, full new set of archetypes, new quips, new cinematics, a whole slew of horrific opponents to kill your players with, and a new mechanic called Twists which basically help mix up the plot mid game, which I'm eager to see in action. The book itself is entertaining and for those in the know about the genre and film making there are a few small easter egg like jokes hidden within. My favorite was the Alan Smithee reference. (look it up)
You still need the They Came From Beyond the Grave sourcebook to play. It's basically everything you need to play, minus the system chapters. You don't even have to be well versed in slasher flics in order to run this. I really liked it and am looking forward to playing with this.
One of the things that I have more than liked about the They Came From... series is how interchangable things are. I ran a game of They Came From Beneath the Sea using a couple archetypes from They Came From Beyond the Grave and it worked seamlessly. I can totally see the new content from this new book adapting very easily into the other games already in existance as well as what they may come up with next.
Can't wait for the print edition to be made available. I'm old school and I like a physical book in my hand.

Lunars: Fangs at the Gate
by Corey R. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/11/2022 16:45:51

I just finished my cover to cover read-through today. The charm set is amazing. The thematic domain of the Lunars is incredible. Simple but powerful rules for shapeshifting are much appreciated. It's definitely a great addition to the Third Edition line. There is a distracting amount of sexual deviancy in this book. And while that is to be expected in a gender-bending splat like Lunars, it really is way over the top here.
