Super useful, it expands Ironsworn wonderfully with a pack of tools for creating random scenes and challenges in a variety exploration environments. Apart from traditional dungeons, there are forests, swamps, ruins, sea caves and more. The method for generating and running these environments can be used in Ironsworn, but also easily adapted for D&D or any other rpg story that wants to explore a dangerous place.

Ironsworn is an elegant progression of the Powered by the Apocalypse sphere, with Shawn using his mix of PbtA principles along with right amount of influences from other games and tools to create a great solo roleplaying experience. I'm having a blast running my solitary yet heroic endevour through the Ironlands. This book is free, so what are you waiting for?

I have played/read MANY rpgs in my decades, this includes all of the "big" ones, and several dozens smaller and sometimes ones that people have never heard of. Some people curl up with a normal fiction book to relax, I read RPGs. I do confess that PbtA is my "newest", and I use that word lightly, rpg engine. The engine has birthed many great systems and fantastic games. When I sit back and look at my top 5 games, not systems, not engines, but GAMES, there are 100s (or 1000s) to choose from. It is rare for my top 5 to get "new blood", but THIS game, this game came in and kicked the other games in the balls. When I get the money I WILL be buying the hardback copies, because I just got the soft. Try the game for free, then open your wallet and slap Shawn with your highest bill. You can play it on Roll20 and I am working on a character sheet to be able to play on World Anvil, not to mention many community members are working of other ways to play this game. Shawn you seriously deserve the praise.

There are relatively few games that get me thinking: "This is beyond awesome, I must put everything else on the back burner and play this immediately" after reading a couple of pages. Well - Ironsworn did just that. I loved the setting, the atmosphere, the PbtA-inspired mechanics and I especially liked the vow/journey progress tracks (plus, the black and white photos fit with the overall theme surprisingly well). I recently started to really appreciate games that offer a more robust "player project" mechanics than just "if you talk about it long enough, you will succeed" and Ironsworn seemed to really hit the spot for me. We already ran a session zero and all players looked very involved and excited.

this is a worthy addition to Ironsworn RPG. In my youth I played a lot of TRPG with my friends. Now with a family this is not easy. However, playing solo in a narrative manner is possible with Ironsworn.

Delve adds new monsters, and many more. Buy this product, if you play Ironsworn. Great!

This is an outstanding supplement to a very well-deseigned tabletop RPG. It is about the same length as the core rules, so with this book one basically doubles the amount of source material available for playing Ironsworn. It adds an entire, completely option, but incredibly cool set of moves and quests to Ironsworn that allows the player to add greater variety and detail to the gameplay. It introduces new "denizen" species of the Ironlands, and it even provides a large number of "pre packaged" Delve sites and maps out their locations, in case the player would rather use a more developed world than generate one de novo. I personally prefer to generate my own, but I have to say that the ones Shawn (the author) provides are quite interesting and add a ton to the atmosphere and setting of Ironsworn.

Once again I am blown away by the quality of not just the rules but the setting. As someone who normally hates it when RPG writers mix their setting with the rules, no one is more surprised than I am that I would say such a thing. But the setting is so well thought out, and dovetails so perfectly with the basic gameplay of swearing iron vows and all the rest of it, that I am incredibly pleased that Shawn put them together as one, and did not separate them into 'gameplay' and 'setting' books.

You can, of course, entirely ignore the setting and do your own homebrew world without any problem at all. You don't have to do "Iron" vows or live in "Iron" lands (people on the Discord have names like "bloodsworn" for blood vows, and maybe living in the bloody lands or something similar, for example), but I certainly won't be ignoring the setting in my game play. I love it to death and can't wait to see even more.

I love this book and its predecssor (the free-to-download core rules) so much that even though I already own the full PDF versions, I just today ordered hardcovers of both. I did this partly because I like physical books, but partly to show support for the author -- here's hoping he keeps making Ironsworn-related supplements for years to come.

best solo rpg! it has lite rules and makes use of narrative playing. No pre-written path. The system helps you to develop your own story. The engine is you.

But not only solo. Having the option to play without a GM is also great.

If you look for narrative RPG (not miniatures on a grid but theatre of mind) look no further.

This is a very nicely put-together game. The core rules, which are available for free, are well-written, beautifully organized, and easy to understand. The game is engaging, and allows for interesting narrative RP -- a so-called "story game." Most mechanics of the game are highly abstracted, and this helps the player(s) to tell their story, without the need to chronicle individual actions like rolling a single to-hit with a specific weapon against an enemy's particular armor class.

Ordinarliy, I do not like it when the game's core rules are suffused with setting information, because to me, the rules should be how one plays, and the setting is up to the DM. However, in the case of Ironsworn, I think the setting material helps clarify and provide context for the rules. Although one need not use the Ironlands or its setting-specific material, the way the author sets up and explains the setting provides reasons why the mechanics work the way they do. For example, the "Iron Vow" mechanic, which is key to the game, particularly makes sense in the context of a harsh, unforgiving land where a broken promise could lead to suffering and death. Additionally, the Ironlands are a "low magic" setting, which explains why the magic system ("Ritual" assets) is rather minimal. There are no wizards hurling fireballs in this game (at least not without major home-brewing), and the setting explains why.

Additoinally, I find the setting highly attractive... the map is reminiscent of Greenland, and Ironlanders of the Vikings, and yet they are unique enough that they seem to be a land and a people all their own. I've told the author in the Ironsworn discord that I can easily picture a series of novels set in the Ironlands, chronicling the vows and adventures of those who swear to the Iron. In fact, the setting is so attractive that I have considered putting my next D&D campaign into the Ironlands and adapting some of its mechanisms to D&D play (mainly because I don't think I'd be able to convince my players to switch games). I love the idea, for instance, of telling my players they gain a level when they fulfill an Iron Vow....

I do not (yet) have a hard copy of these products, but I can speak for the quality of the PDFs, which is high. They are wonderfully bookmarked so you can find anything. The pages are laid out well. The black-and-white artwork is perfect for the mood and feel of the Ironlands (I'm sure it was done to cut down on printing costs for hard copies, but I think that the B&W works well thematically as well).

Overall, I can't say enough good things about this product. It's free, so it is a no-brainer on DLing the core rules. But it took me only one read-through of the free PDF to come back here and order the other books such as Delve. And I am planning to get hard copies of everything in the next little while... so that tells you how good this book is.

Less intimidating than the full-length rule book, I found this made Ironsworn significantly more accessible. As with any narrative-driven game, it can be as good, or as limited, as your imagination, with the mechanics being rather secondary. Once I'd come up with an engaging background vow, my quest started to fall into place and almost started writing itself. I use OneNote to document my characters, places visited, dice throws and outcomes. It can be quite weird how a series of great throws that boost your confidence sky-high seem to be followed by multiple setbacks. I was making great initial progress, but then was totally unable to persuade the keeper of the city gates, to let me enter his town! Oh well, off on a sidequest and will return when my luck feels like it's changed. Many thanks to Shawn for refining this RPG method, which is ideal for socially-distanced (i.e. solo) gaming in this most weird of years!

Another fantastic product from Shawn T. As if Ironsworn could get any better...it has with this supplement. It merges with the core rules effortlessly and the extra mechanics even improve what was already 10/10. A purchase item as opposed to free, but glad to pay and support Shawn T. Shawn is so talented I will buy his next release without even looking at any reviews. Especially with the prospect of Starforged!

A truly magnificent game. PBTA Dungeon World crossed with Mythic. The production is first rate and way better than many premium games. The way the mechanics fuel the narrative is very impressive. The Oracles are inspiring and fire the imagination. Flexible game world, Vikings blended with Game of Thrones. Great solo, awesome in coop. Incredibly this is also free! One of the best RPGs that I have found in my whole life. It is challenging, fun, sparks your imagination, and most of all, hackable.

Wow! This is far, far better than expected and one of the best things I've purchased on this site. I say purchased - it was free which is all the more amazing! Essentially this is a very good structure for generating character-driven epic stories and campaigns without messing with minutia. You will find big challenges, epic exploration, unique and troubled characters and great quest arcs. You will not find tactical battle simulation or loot tables. Instead you'll find a very flexible and adaptable system for developing major character and story arcs and resolving them.

This feels to me like a cross between a RPG and a fantasy novel generation tool. I highly recommend it. A few things to be aware of:

• This can be played guided but honestly it's designed for unguided solo or cooperative play (e.g. no GM)
• It's going to be a lot of world-building effort on your part to play it successfully
• You'll feel like you're "making it all up" a lot but it's interesting and has success/failure determined for you. If you would prefer a system where things are created for you and you respond to them this is not for you
• The oracle tables are very good, some of the best I've seen. Note that I've purchased a ton of products with oracle tables and adventure generation tools and I consider most to be bad.

Ironsworn Delve expands on the already fantastic core experience. I can no longer play without delving the depths and using the optional rules. And I can't play any other RPG and explore without thinking the Theme and Domain system is better.

A fantastic system for solo RPG and now my favorite group TTRPG. The system is elegant, easy to learn and has narrative depth. It got my imagination going.
