So, is the Republic City book still coming or what? It was on preorder for a while on this site before vanishing into the spirit world.

Apparently, it was only meant to be available for preorder for a limited time. No idea why, but that's why it vanished.

That said, it's supposed to be due out soon. I've read October, but I've also read November according to one distributor.

Apparently I can't write a review, despite getting the pdfs from Drive Thru. Here are my thoughts: I love the show. I still watch it every summer with my kids who are in college now. I was a backer if the Kickstarter because of that love of the show and world. Now that I have given it a few read throughs I have mixed feelings. The layout and artwork are beautiful. The publisher made great use of the existing artwork from Avatar. There is great background on playing in all the Avatar eras. Bending is mechanically blah. It all comes down to making a Skills and Training move. Fire Bender blasting a foe - Skills and Training Move. Water Bender healing a friend - Make a Skills and Training move. Level a city with an Earth Bender earthquake. Yup same move. It's all the same move. Sure that means you can try anything that you can imagine but its all the same really. Kinda blah. The game demands that you "play" the emotional world of your character. The game also seems to lean heavily into playing as an adolescent...See more

I absolutely love Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game and the accompanying book. As a backer of the Kickstarter campaign, I was already impressed with the stunning artwork and the in-depth explanations of the world and lore of Avatar Legends. My kids (5, 8, and 10 years old) are huge fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and introducing them to the tabletop roleplaying game has been a delight. They've already created characters and artwork for their firebender, waterbender, and earthbender.

While the ruleset of the game is quite different from what I'm familiar with, the writing of the rules could have been better. However, it is still a perfect fit for the Avatar world. The game is set up in a way that captures the show's spirit and essence, with plenty of opportunities for character development and exciting storytelling. Overall, I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of Avatar and tabletop roleplaying games.

I bought this game at my FLGS on a whim having never watched the tv shows but as a fan of PbtA games and I was very surprised by this game, in a very positive way. After getting this book I can say that the quickstart that they had released during the kickstarter does not do this game justice, and gives the game a bad impression. The writers seemed to approach this trpg from the perspective that if you have never watched the tv shows or read the comics its okay, because it does a great job introducing you to the world. And while being a PbtA game, it does have quite a few options for combat special maneuvers and bending powers. Haven't played it yet, but I want to now. I probably should watch the tv shows now.

I also got the Wan Shi Tong's Adventure book, and it has five adventures in it, each set in one of the five eras of play. I had no idea that there were five eras in the Avatarverse. I only thought it was two.

There is no way to split the playbook pdf files. When I try it says the file doesn't support it or it's password protected. My ttrpg friends don't live around me so I have to send the whole file to them now, and there is no easy way to edit the pdf file for their playbook now which is going to make gameplay more difficult. Very dissapointed. Was looking forward to this but now it's going to be a chore for my friends to keep up their character sheets and no one is going to want to continue it... Feels like a waste of money now

While I’m late on this and you might’ve found it, the blank PDFs can be found on Magpie’s website (unless that’s what you’re referring to), but I believe they are meant to be printed.

If those don’t work, there are a few character keepers people have made in the community with Google Sheets, as well as browser based sites like Roll20 (now has official sheets) and the fanmade “Beyond Legends.”

A little late to the party, but...

Separating the PDFs is easy enough, just print the pages to PDF. They'll be slightly fuzzy, but completely workable. As for a fillable version, I think they want you to use Demiplane or Roll20 for online play, so I can't see them providing one.

I would be a lot more interested if there was more detail than a universal accessibility note for this game. Tell me what I'm getting for my cash. It makes me wonder if the publisher cares if it sells.

The most recent Movers & Shakers Quickstart (from Free RPG Day), at least the rules portion, is pretty much identical to the Starter Set rulebook, with only one page and the adventure(s) being different. So I think they intend for people to buy the Starter Set instead of getting the Quickstart, as it's been the better part of a year since they took it down. The only other option is to find a left over Movers & Shakers, which is going for a pretty penny eBay now. (It'd be cheaper to buy the Starter set.)

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
