Easier Solo Play

Selected Option:

You may be new to solo roleplaying or an old hand, either way we all run our solo games our own unique ways. This does mean that we rarely get to see how other people are doing it. This books contains tips and advice that I have picked up over the years that I have incorporated into my own play.

Some of these may be new to you, some you may accept as obvious truths. Each of these work for me, and I have included examples of either the tip in use or how I came about incorporating the advice into my own play.

I share lots of examples of my own playing to illustrate each tip.

This book grew out of a run of blog articles I ran in 2021, and that grew out of a video series I posted on YouTube, and the comments I received from my solo community.

This looks like a great resource, as i'm thinking about getting into solo play. The mind-map bit looks pretty helpful. Thanks Peter.

Hey Peter, you mention you play rolemaster in this product. Do you have a solo product designed to support rolemaster or merp? I don't see one browsing the PPM catalog.

I guess the HASP is what i am looking for?

Hi, yes, HASP are my rules for both HARP and Rolemaster. But.... If you like your rules crunchy and detailed, you may be happier with Mythic GME. I play RM Classic with out all the companions thrown on top, and I have a very OSR style. I would much rather just make a ruling at the table and then check afterwards. HASP is pretty light weight and very interpretive. Mythic GME is much crunchier and in your face. I would suggest you look at both before making a choice. They are also both d100 rules.

So looking at Vadim's comment and checking for myself I am just straight up buying this instead of wish-listing it for who knows how long. I am very impressed at you putting the whole thing in the preview. You've definitely earned my money.

I've looked at the preview of this product, which seems to be the whole thing (that's hardcore, much respect) and I *think* you've left out a page or two, unless the preview is deliberately meant to leave out the last few pages. I figured it wasn't, because your two other products I looked at seem to have full previews and both end on a Conclusion chapter, but this one literally ends mid-sentence on page 91. "If you have a book of"

I have resubmitted the preview file, but it may take DTRPG 20 minutes to an hour to refresh it.

I always put the entire PDF in the preview. I don't want anyone to buy something that isn't right for them or something they won't use. Product descriptions are all very well, but they can never convey everything that a book says.

Thank you for pointing out the break in the preview. If this had been Easier Mystery Play I could have called it a cliffhanger!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
