THE ONLY CONSTANT IS CHANGE.

“Potential is everywhere. You can’t really see it, but you can feel it. And all you really need to do is reach out, grab that potential in your hand, and bend it to your will. Nothing goes wrong if you just use your potential. I know it sounds easy. I can’t really tell you how to do it. But when you do, you’ll just know.”

- Janeka Spencer, Neptune Foundation first responder

Anyone know what the April 7th 2020 update was for? Just adding the interactive character sheet?

Needs a roll20 sheet, especially if it wants to get any play online.

I am familiar with White Wolf having played the original Vampire and Aeon/Trinity. After reading this nebulous description I am left wondering if this will end the same as last time? Will there actually be a storyline flowing throughout the adventures that comes to a culmination? Or will this be a big sandbox. I purchased every Trinity product but I never seemed to get the feeling I really knew what the developers were trying to do. What are we looking at?

There’s a default starting point for each era with a default timeline but the Trinity Continuum is a multiverse. They’ve specifically said their intent is you do what you want and change what you want and it’s canon in your branch of the continuum. If you run an Aberrant game that doesn’t end in The War then have at it.

The assumed start point for this begins just before the invasion of Chrome Prime. I don’t expect a series of adventures to move a 90s/00s style meta plot forward.

A few quick notes after having flipped through both books and skimmed the rules and background.

Back in the '90s, there was a lot of anticipation for Æon (later Trinity), which a lot of us were assuming would be sort of World of Darkness in space. And, obviously, that isn't what we got, really.

The thing is that I was never really sure what it was that we did get. The text of the game kept going on about optimism, about "Hope, Sacrifice, Unity." And yet — I'm sure it wasn't just me — I kept waiting for the shoe to drop, to find out that this was all a facade and that there were Dark Evils behind it all.

And it wasn't just that I was being cynical. (Well, there was a lot of that, but...). Reading through the original Æon book, I could never truly buy into the stated theme. Ultimately, I decided that the reason why was because, in part, because the text presented was at odds with the tone of the text, and even the graphic design of the book itself.

Is this the same game from the 90s? Or is it revised?

It's a second edition with a changed ruleset, basically a brainchild of New World of Darkness mixed with aspects of FATE. This book only contains the new ruleset. If you're specifically interested in the Aeon Setting (the Setting from the Trinity 1st Edition), look for the "Trinity Continuum: Aeon" book relased simultaniously with this.
Be aware that you need this rulebook to play with the Setting Book, although you propably could use the informations given in the Setting Book to play within another ruleset - but you would have to invest some work to convert important aspects.

Eingescanntes Buchformat
