Auf die Wunschliste >

The time is now! The yuan-ti lay on the cusp of freeing an ancient being of insurmountable evil from its imprisonment. Should this happen, Faerûn may very well be plunged into an age of darkness. You have traveled the width and breadth of the peninsula and learned what you could about your foe. Now it’s time to put that knowledge to use. Steel yourself, adventurer, there are important deeds to be done!

This is a very enjoyable adventure. The puzzles and traps are very well thought out.

Scribbly reviews: DDAL07-14 Fathomless pit of Ill Intent
Some creative puzzles and fun traps come together for the final adventure in the 07 T3 series. Especially interesting is the chance to revisit an area players may have discovered while playing through the Tomb of Annihilation hardcover, but after some time and the arrival of a yuan-ti nightmare speaker, this location is irreparably changed.
Although once inside the temple, none of the backstory of Orolunga, the temple the adventure takes place in, doesn't matter anymore as it's been renovated into a death trap to lure adventurers to their dooms. And the end result is a vary good dungeon.
Unfortunately the entire mod falls apart at the very end, undermining the core goal of the entire 07 T3 series and most of the foreshadowing from the hardcover book. Of course this is all setting up the tier 4 story ark, but it means everything in the tier 3 mods are lies and filler.

So is there a bone naga or not. It seems like that was the intention of the mod and it reflects it in the theme and XP after the final battle but no stats and no other mention of it.

Some Spoilers follow.

On page 10, the sidebar at the top "The Extra Hidden Chamber" mentions that characters who played DDAL07-12 and 07-13 will have the alternate solution to the puzzle. I have run my group through all of the DDAL07 adventures, and while they have the clue from 13, I cannot for the life of me find any clue in 12 (In Search of Secrets) I have scanned that module over and over searching for the clue that would provide them "Mountain" and "Wave", but I've not found anything that would supply it.

I've left the same comment over on the page for 07-12, as I am not sure if this is an error in this adventure (such as the wrong source of the first clue being named), or that one (such as the adventure's author accidentally omitting it), or my own failure at searching.

Any help is greatly appreciated, as I am gearing up to run this module soon and would like to make sure my players have all the info they should.

Aha! I found the issue. The clues are actually given in 07-11 A Lesson in Love, not in 07-12. That's my mistake. I'll get that fixed. Thanks for spotting this.

Can you get this fixed? I just ran this adventure for the first time with the current version and the error is still there. Spent way too much time trying to figure out what was going on here.

As of this writing, this hasn't been corrected. (It's also still got "Pits" in the title, not "Depths, as you-- Eric-- said you wanted to change it in another comment...)

For this clue, one needs to put together the Verses vs. Verses story given out with DDAL07-13, "Old Bones And Older Tomes"; and something on page 8 of DDAL07-11, "A Lesson In Love." It took me a little hunting to find it, so if you are looking for it, check there!

There are still some legacy typos, as a result of the late re-naming of the adventure from "Fathomless Depths of Ill Intent" to "Fathomless Pits of Ill Intent".

1) The certificate still lists the adventure as "Fathomless Depths of Ill Intent".

2) The first sentence (p. 2) still reads as "Welcome to Fathomless Depths of Ill Intent, a D&D Adventurers League™ adventure, part of the official D&D Adventurers League™ organized play system and the Tomb of Annihilation™ storyline season."

Both the certificate and the opening language on p.2 should be updated to reflect the apparent new name ("Fathomless Pits of Ill Intent").

The adventure should be titled Depths throughout. I've got a few other typos that I want to fix. When I collect them all, we'll go through and fix everything in one swoop.

Almost a year later... any chance you'll ever do this, Eric? My post-ToA table is working their way through the tier 3 modules, and this one will be coming up in a few weeks.

Should the puzzles be more complex (snake placement grid, word riddles, etc.) ? They seemed far too easy for my players.

The feedback from the playtest was that I made all the puzzles too hard so I scaled them down. If you have a group that is good at puzzles, I recommend making the puzzles harder. Redo the riddles a bit and expand the grid and include no-go squares to make it more complicated. Not every group is that good at puzzles.

I've also got some fantastic puzzlers who are going to solve the placement grid in seconds. I might be able to improve it myself, but if you found or made a replacement you are pleased with, would you care to share it?

Eingescanntes Buchformat
