I'm a little disappointed by this map, for only one reason: the STREETS of Waterdeep should have been labeled!

Do you think the cartographer can add the street names and send me the corrected map? Thanks!

Hi Lawrence, sorry for the inconvenience with the map. As you are aware I was based on a 3.5 edition version of waterdeep. And like you've requested, it lacks street names. I've received plenty of requests to update and fix this product. It is on my current timeline to add the missing quarters within the next two weeks or so. About street names, I'm not sure if the current resolution of the map supports the multiple street names but if it does I'll make sure to include them.

Hello Raymond. I know it took us a long while and it might not be useful this late but we have just added versions of this map updated to 5e, they include the missing ward and undercliff. Regretably, we could not include street names because the resolution won't support that much text.

I got this map to use with a loosely run Dragon Heist. This map is clearly created off of the maps of previous editions, and it's missing the "Field Ward" near the north gate, which I have just noticed in previous editions was literally just a field, presumably designed as a killbox for invading armies. Now it's a ward of the city of its own.

Means I need to do some graphic design work of my own, but the unlabeled B&W map is still a good starting point for me to make the maps I will need in my games.

Does this map include Undercliff? If not, does anyone know where I could find a map of Undercliff that I could use in a dmsguild product which mirrors the one on the poster in the hardcover?

No, sorry. This was released a while ago. I understand that the new map has undergone some changes. I plan to update this one but I don't have an ETA.

Awesome! Thank you! Does the commercial license allow the map to be modified (eg, naming streets as another commenter suggested)? If so, this is a no-brainer to add to some of my Waterdeep adventures.

I was disappointed in this. For $4 on rpgnow/drive thru, I expected to get a map pack with an overall city map and detailed maps of each ward. The sample images make it look like that's what is included too. Instead, all this is just a single map labeled a few different ones; one you can get for free anywhere on the internet. It may be hand-drawn, but it the value here was incredibly disappointing.

The one use-case I can see potentially being worth it is as a commercial user. Then, this is probably fine. Recommend against the purchase as just a DM running Waterdeep campaigns however.

Hello Karl, I apologize the product did not meet your expectations. The price tag is directly related to the commercial license it has. Most of my clients are other DMs Guild creators that use my illustrations in their own products.

If you're interested, as a token of gratitude, I can send you a complimentary copy of my adventure, The Goblet of Fireflies. I will need your dms guild email address to send it, though.

Hey Derek,

Thank you so much for the reply. That is great customer service. I agree that a commercial license totally justifies this price (if not more). I should have been more attentive when I was making the purchase, but am happy to support you in the end because I do think that collaboration is key to D&D and I think it is great that people are out there creating content with commercial use cases in place.

I would still take you up on the offer of your adventure, though. I'm trying to find a way to DM my email to you presently. Thank you kindly for that offer.

You're welcome Karl. I've always thought that networking and being available to people is half the work. I hope you enjoy the adventure.

As far as I can see, without the Field Quarter, that is for 3.5e, not for 5e.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
