Federation Commander: First Missions

This ruleset hearkens from the early days of wargaming. Where you reference Rules 1.1109.2-b(1)-(iii) and so forth. That said, Federation Space is also a newer version of Starfleet Battles rules (made by same folks) and does consolidate the system considerably...but make no mistake, this isn't a "print a map and play" kind of game.

Not saying it's bad...but it is definitely on the 'crunchy' side of rulesets. If you want something that still captures this feel while being a bit more streamlined....hurm...maybe Battlestations! by Jeff Saidek may be more your speed. It has greater emphasis on individual crew actions. But it would be more on a shuttle (runabout) scale of combat as opposed to larger vessels with hundreds of crew.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth (the rules are free), but this is billed as the simplified abridged introductory version of a new streamlined ruleset. The rules alone take 24 pages. Sheesh!
